TANSI!

The Indigenous Mardi Gras Pavilion is excited to make its Folklorama debut. Riveting performances by Mardi Gras Indians from New Orleans and the young students from the Aboriginal School of Dance will entertain the crowd while also providing a taste of the rich culture and history of the First Nations people.

Enjoy a mask-making demonstration and discover the similarities and differences between the regalia design of Manitoba First Nations and that of the Mardi Gras Indians from Louisiana. Witness the tradition of wild rice husking and try your hand at dancing on the rice.

Round out your experience by trying our Gumbo, fry bread and a very berry dessert called wojapi.
