The Costume Museum of Canada is unique to North America. Exhibits of men's, women's and children's clothing are presented in tableaux vivants or living pictures. The collection of over 35,000 artifacts spans 400 years and includes a damask linen table napkin from the household of Queen Elizabeth I. Beautiful and fascinating, Dalnavert is one of the finest examples of Queen Anne Revival architecture. It was originally built for Hugh John Macdonald, the only son of Canada's first prime minister, Sir John A. Macdonald and Manitoba's premier in 1900. Dalnavert re-creates the lifestyle of a well-to-do family home of 1895. The Exchange District National Historic Site is the original centre of commerce and culture in Winnipeg. The arrival of the railway in 1881 marked the beginning of an economic boom that would last for four decades and bankroll the construction of office towers, warehouses, banks, hotels and theatres in the area. The forty acre site spreads out from a village street, in a pattern reminiscent to Mennonite villages found throughout southern Manitoba at the turn of the century. The north side of the street illustrates the early settlement buildings while the south side shows the gradual shift to various business enterprises. The Village Centre, open year round, houses an exhibit gallery that tells the Mennonite story from 1525 to present. Additional exhibit areas feature displays on a variety of related themes. Mennonite Heritage Village exists to preserve and share the Mennonite heritage and illustrate a traditional way of life that has disappeared.

Completed in 1849, St. Andrews is the oldest church in continuous use in western Canada. The rectory, built in 1854, contains exhibits and displays relating the early missionaries' work and influence on the economic and social life of the settlement. An historic cemetery surrounds the church.

The St. Boniface Museum is housed in Winnipeg's oldest building, the Grey Nun's Convent. It was originally built for the Grey Nuns who arrived in 1844 and is an excellent example of early Red River Frame construction. The museum presents an impressive collection of artifacts that reveal the lives and culture of the Francophone and Metis populations of Manitoba.
